Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Cookette AI collects when you generate recipes, manage your pantry and shopping list, and use the app — and how that information is stored, used, and protected.

Effective date: October 11, 2026 Applies to: Cookette AI for Android (package: com.cooketteai.app)

Overview

Cookette AI ("Cookette AI", "we", "us") is a mobile app that turns the ingredients you have into recipes using an AI model, and helps you plan, shop, and cook. This policy covers every version of the app distributed on Google Play.

By creating an account or using the app, you agree to the collection and use of information as described here. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

02 · What we collect

Information we collect

We collect only what the app's features need to function. The table below groups it by category.

Account dataSign-in

Name, email address, and profile photo — from Google Sign-In, or the email you register with directly.

Why: create and secure your account, and keep your subscription, cooking level and shared household available when you sign in.

Cooking dataApp content

Ingredients you enter, generated recipes, pantry contents, shopping lists, favorites, allergen and dietary preferences, cooking history.

Why: generate relevant recipes, track your pantry, remember what you've cooked.

Recipe photos & filesOptional

A photo of a recipe or cookbook page you take with the camera or pick from your gallery, or a plain-text recipe file you import, is sent to Google's Gemini model to read and extract the recipe (title, ingredients, steps). We don't keep a copy of the photo or file on our servers once the recipe has been extracted.

Why: let you digitize a recipe from a physical book, a screenshot, or a text file instead of typing it out by hand.

Camera (barcode)Optional

Used to scan a product's barcode (EAN/UPC) in real time. The camera feed is processed on your device to read the barcode - no photo or video is captured, stored, or sent anywhere for this feature. The barcode number itself is sent to Open Food Facts to look up the product name (see third-party services).

Why: quickly add a scanned product to your pantry or shopping list. Only active while you're on the scan screen, and only if you grant camera permission.

Shared householdOptional

If you pair your account with another user to form a shared household, the other member(s) of that household can see: your display name and avatar; your cooking level, saved-recipe count, and allergy list, but only if you've chosen to share each of those; the chat messages you send in the household chat; and any items you add to the household's shared shopping list, pantry, or equipment list.

Why: let people in the same household coordinate meals, shopping, and pantry stock together. Pairing is opt-in and you can leave a household at any time from Settings.

Background imageOptional

A photo you choose from your device's gallery to use as the app's background. It's copied into the app's local storage and stays on your device - it's never uploaded to our servers.

Why: personalize the app's appearance.

Device & diagnosticsAutomatic

Crash reports, app version, device model and OS version, and device-integrity signals used to confirm requests come from a genuine copy of the app.

Why: find and fix bugs and protect the app's backend from abuse.

Abuse protectionAutomatic

To keep the AI features fair and available to everyone, our server keeps short-term technical records: how many AI requests an account or device made in the last 24 hours, together with one-way scrambled (hashed) codes of the device and network connection. These codes cannot be turned back into a readable identifier. They are not used for advertising or profiling.

Why: prevent automated or excessive use of the AI features.

Online statusAutomatic

While the app is open, it sends a random installation code every few minutes so we can see roughly how many people are using the app at a given moment. The code is not linked to your name or account.

Why: understand overall usage and keep the service running smoothly.

Missing-ingredient reportsAutomatic

When the app can't recognize an ingredient name, it may send that ingredient name and the app language, with a timestamp, so we can add it. No account details are attached.

Why: improve ingredient recognition.

Purchases & promo codesOptional

If you subscribe to Premium, the purchase is handled by Google Play; we receive confirmation of your subscription status, not your payment details. If you redeem a promo code, we store which code was used on your account, together with a one-way scrambled (hashed) code of the device it was redeemed on, so that the same code can't be used again on that device. This code cannot be turned back into a readable identifier and contains no name or email.

Why: unlock Premium features and prevent a code from being used more than once.

Receipt importOptional

If you use the receipt (eKasa) import, the receipt identifier you scan is sent to the Slovak Financial Administration's public service to retrieve the receipt's items. No other personal data is sent.

Why: add purchased items to your pantry without typing them in.

Advertising dataFree tier

Advertising ID and device signals used by our ad provider to show and measure ads.

Why: fund the free tier of the app. See third-party services below.

MicrophoneVoice input · optional

If you tap the microphone in the chat, the app asks for microphone permission and uses your phone's built-in speech recognition service (provided by Android / Google) to turn your speech into text. Cookette AI does not record, store or upload audio. Only the recognized text is used, exactly like a typed chat message.

Why: let you dictate requests instead of typing. You can deny or revoke the permission at any time in Android settings; the rest of the app works without it.

03 · Purpose

How we use it

  • Generate recipes and cooking guidance tailored to your ingredients, allergens, and preferences.
  • Extract recipes from photos, cookbook pages, or text files you choose to import.
  • Keep your recipes, personal pantry, shopping list, and settings on your device. They are not uploaded to our servers and are not synced between your devices.
  • Let you coordinate cooking, shopping, and pantry stock with other members of a household you choose to pair with.
  • Operate account features such as sign-in, subscription tier, and promo code redemption.
  • Diagnose crashes and performance problems so we can fix them.
  • Verify that requests to our backend come from a genuine, untampered copy of the app.
  • Show and measure ads for users on the free tier.
  • Communicate with you if you contact us for support.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data to train models we distribute outside of the app.

04 · Health-related data

Allergies & recipe accuracy

How we treat this data

Allergen and dietary information (for example, a nut or gluten allergy) is health-related data. You enter it voluntarily and we process it only on that basis. We treat it as sensitive: it is used only to filter and generate recipes for you, it is never used for ad targeting, and it is never sold or shared with advertisers. If you choose to share your allergy list with a household you've paired with, it becomes visible only to the other member(s) of that specific household, per the "Shared household" row above - it is never shown to anyone outside it.

Recipe accuracy disclaimer

Recipes are generated by an AI model based on the ingredients and allergies you enter. While the app applies allergen-safety filtering, AI-generated content can still make mistakes — for example, missing an ingredient or substitution that conflicts with your allergy. Always check ingredient labels and use your own judgment before cooking or eating, especially if you have a severe allergy or medical condition. Cookette AI is not a medical service and recipes should not be treated as medical or dietary advice. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for adverse reactions resulting from reliance on generated recipes.

Nutrition data sources

Calories and nutrients shown for recipes are approximate estimates, not laboratory values. For new recipes they are calculated from the app's own ingredient table (raw weights; cooking losses are not included and frying oil is estimated). This table was compiled by selecting entries from the public food composition databases below and adapting them (for example substitute foods for some ingredients, portion weights and rounding). Changes were made to the original data. The data is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. None of these institutions endorses Cookette AI. Nutrition values are not medical or dietary advice.

06 · Disclosure

Sharing & disclosure

We share information only:

  • With the service providers listed above, to operate the app's features.
  • With other members of a shared household you choose to pair with - limited to the profile fields, chat messages, and shared-list content described in "Shared household" above.
  • If required by law, regulation, or a valid legal request.
  • To protect the rights, safety, or property of Cookette AI, our users, or the public.
  • As part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — you'll be notified if your data becomes subject to a different policy.

We do not sell personal information to third parties.

07 · Duration

Data retention

We keep account and cooking data for as long as your account is active. Household chat messages are automatically trimmed to the most recent 200 per household. Crash and diagnostic logs are retained for a limited period for debugging purposes. When you delete your account, we delete your account, your synced profile and level data, your promo code records, and your AI usage records. If you are in a shared household, deleting your account also removes you from it: your membership and household profile are deleted, and if you were its admin, that role passes to another member. Content you added to the household (shopping list, pantry, equipment, chat messages) belongs to that household and stays with its other members, but your name and account identifier are removed from it, and your chat messages are shown as sent by a "former member". If you were the only member, the household and all of its content are deleted. To remove specific items or messages, delete them before deleting your account, or contact us and we will help. A short-term block placed on an account or device because of abuse of the AI features may be kept so that it can't be bypassed by deleting an account. We may keep limited data where required by law.

08 · Control

Your rights & choices

Access & export

Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

Correction

Update your profile and preferences directly in the app's Settings.

Deletion

Delete your account and associated data from the app, or by contacting us.

Household pairing

Leave a shared household at any time from Settings - your data stops being visible to the other member(s) going forward.

Ad personalization

Limit ad tracking in your device's system settings (Settings → Privacy → Ads).

If you're in the EEA, UK, or a region with similar laws, these correspond to your rights under GDPR (access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection). If you're a California resident, they correspond to your rights under the CCPA/CPRA. To exercise any of them, contact us using the details below. You can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Slovakia: Úrad na ochranu osobných údajov SR).

09 · Age

Children's privacy

Cookette AI is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

10 · Protection
